Types of Shapeshifters, Part 3 – Man or Beast?

Besides the many different types of animals, one can shapeshift into and the many types of shapeshifters, there are also various degrees of shapeshifting.  Since there are specific terms related to werewolves, I will use them here.  The terms may be somewhat different for other shapeshifters, but the general concepts will be similar.  Throughout this book and in your own practice, whenever you shift – physically, mentally, or astrally — you can use any of these forms. You might also consider trying on different forms at different times.

The Wolf – The shapeshifter turns completely into their animal of choice which includes a complete change in body structure.  For lycanthropes, this is the werewolf who changes completely into a wolf.

The Wolf Man – The wolf man is mostly human, but with wolfish features such as extra body hair, pointy ears, and large canine teeth.  There is no major change in body structure.

Man Wolves – These creatures stand on two legs like a human but are more wolf than man.  They may be larger or more muscular than a normal human, and while their body is shaped mostly like a man, they have a wolf’s head.  They typically have a full coat of fur over their entire body.
